Background

The Shining Tree area is strategically located in the Larder Mining Division, District of Sudbury, in the province of Ontario. This established mining camp is part of the prolific Abitibi Greenstone Belt between Timmins, Sudbury and Kirkland Lake, and straddles the well-known Cadillac–Larder Lake Break, which hosts numerous gold mines in Ontario and Québec.

Threegold’s Shining Tree property consists of two (2) claim blocks immediately adjacent to properties belonging to Creso Resources Inc and Goldeye Explorations Ltd, between the Duggan, Tyranite and Minto occurrences in the Tyrell and Knight townships. The area has seen a recent increase in exploration activity following Creso Resources’ report of high grade assays on their Minto Gold Project adjacent to Threegold’s Shining Tree property. The results include Creso’s hole M-09-02, which graded 18.2 g/t Au over 65.7 metres, including a section of 25.7 metres grading 33.2 g/t Au (see Creso press release of June 9, 2010).

Geology

The Shining Tree Project is in the southwest part of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt where the geology is characterized by ultramafic to mafic volcanics with lesser pyroclastics and metasedimentary rocks of Huronian and Timiskaming age, all of which are intruded by numerous felsic to mafic dykes. The rocks in the area are folded into a syncline with a moderate northwest plunge that can be observed in the steeply dipping, rapidly turning structures. Gold mineralization is associated with quartz veins of two types: shear-hosted or tension.
